Elaine Dundy, the author has died at her home in Los Angeles. She was 86. Elaine Brimberg grew up in Manhattan, the daughter of a wealthy clothing manufacturer.  Dundy described her childhood home, dominated by her abusive father, as "a prison where my father was the warden, my sisters the inmates, and my mother the snitch"  Dundy wrote the novels The Old Man and Me (1964) The Injured Party (1974) before turning to nonfiction in Finch, Bloody Finch a biography of Peter Finch (1980) Elvis and Gladys  a study of Elvis’s relationship with his mother and Ferriday, Louisiana about the little town that produced Jimmy Swaggart and Jerry Lee Lewis. 

Since Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE) went public, there has been little action, despite a lot of talk (or rather, a lot of announcements), and the corporate culture around Graceland has become much less interactive with the press. The original deal CKX made with Lisa Marie was announced in December 2004. CKX paid $114 million for an 85% interest in Elvis Presley Enterprises. Lisa Marie, who retained the remaining 15%, was paid $50 million in cash plus $26 million in CKX common and preferred stock. CKX also paid $25 million in EPE debt. Sillerman got a 90-year lease on Graceland, rights to Elvis' name, likeness, image and trademark, publishing rights to 650 songs and royalty rights to the few songs Elvis recorded after 1973, as well as to two dozen Presley movies. Sillerman also paid $6.5 million to Priscilla Presley.  It was reported that CKX didn't have to pay Priscilla anything, but that doing so would make her more agreeable to appearing at grand openings etc 

The new Indiana Jones movie 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' contains an Elvis song, 'Hound Dog'. The first 3 movies were set in the 40s. Now, Indiana Jones, played by Harrison Ford, has aged and the movie is set in the 50s. As an aspiring star Harrison Ford says 'I was sent to the studio barber, they sent me with a picture of Elvis and told me to come back with my hair looking like that.

Elvis Presley Estate generated $49 million this past year. CKX Entertainment which presides over the bulk of the Elvis empire with Lisa Marie Presley retaining a 15 percent.  Revenue from Graceland were up 15 percent  to $35 million. That doesn't include royalties generated from Elvis music, DVDs and licensing the Elvis themed Cirque du Soleil. John Lennon came in at No. 2 with earnings estimated at $44 million 

Elvis friend, Jerry Schilling received a Brass Note Award in Beale Street. Schilling is a native of Memphis  was recognized for his contributions to Memphis music. Schilling managed The Beach Boys and Lisa Marie  He wrote: Me and a Guy Named Elvis: My Lifelong Friendship with Elvis Presley
